Though linear, this game shapes up to be one of the best third person shooters ever created. I liked the story, and the boss battle is insane but terribly satisfying when you ultimately beat him.+/- Taking out enemies is better compared to UC1 as you have more options like stealth in some areas, though it still has issues like cheap one hit deaths and odd cases where enemies are spawned right behind you+/- Platforming has made some improvements like giving you fewer chances to fling yourself to an instant death, but still has confusing set dressing where too often it's unclear what can be interacted with- Some sections get a bit long in the tooth for both combat and platforming sequences- Does the same annoying thing as UC1 of going in to silly fantasy nonsense in the final fifth or so, and the new creatures you fight are again annoying bullet sponges.+ Puzzles are shorter compared to the first game which allows for it to flow far more smoothlyBlows the first game out of the water, but still has some way to go.Simply a masterpiece.

Visually, story and gameplay wise, this is a true masterpiece.While I called Uncharted: Drake's Fortune a great game, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a masterpiece. Overall, if you're a fan of any kind of third person action game, you need to buy this immediately, I would recommend getting it on the Nathan Drake collection on PS4 as it delivers the best experience, which reminds me, the set pieces were stunning. The parkour was linear in design but you can look past that, yet I would have liked some more freedom to how I approached scenarios. This is storytelling at it's finest yet still manages to balance out it's amazing story with also great game play. I felt for each and every protagonist that joined me on this journey and felt like I had a bond with them. The action sequences were some of the biggest highlights of my gaming history but they are followed by scenes of character development which do their job well.
Drake's Fortune's story was super predictable, but in Among Thieves, I had absolutely no clue what would happen next. But what made this game stick out to me most was its amazing story and characters. The puzzle system was improved, adding more depth to the puzzles both in how they are solved and how clues are found. The platforming is pretty much exactly the same, but I had no issues with it previously. Also, there are different guns used more often in Among Thieves, like RPGs and miniguns. I love how combat occurs from different height levels throughout the whole game, it feels way better than the mostly flat ground combat in Drake's Fortune.
If I could make any complaints, both in Uncharted 1 and 2, I have had trouble finding where to go. My favorite line in all of Uncharted 2: "Hey you, asswipe, give me your lighter" - Nathan Drake, to Harry Flynn in front of Lazarevic and ten of his men, all armed with guns. Naughty Dog really made Drake so lovable by almost giving him a "fuck it" attitude to his whole situation. Outside of the main storyline, the comedy in Among Thieves was really well-placed and funny.

Cliched plot, trope-filled characters, decent humor, and an OBSCENE number of enemies. While all the systems of Uncharted 1 feel like they were tightened up in 2, the basic premise of the game is still the same. Unlike Uncharted 1, I actually encountered a few game breaking glitches in this one, most of them centered toward the later quarter of the game (which is where it gets a bit thin, overall, in my opinion). While the "trial and error" gameplay of the first game has been reduced, this game still feels really cheap in some areas (especially those chapters featuring a tank battle and a monastery) in that you are forced down an extremely narrow and linear path despite the game world itself presenting multiple options. It feels a bit long in the tooth, and since it's not that long of a game in the first place that's really saying something.
